I must admit that I'm quite proud of this photograph ... it does well to capture the sense of beauty that I feel when I wander the streets of Paris.
Over the years I have taken hundreds of photos of this beautiful structure, most of them being of the standard tourist variety ... this time I wanted to try something different. I began to experiment with wide angle shots, placing the Arc into the corner and filling the image with the empty blue sky. After 30+ photos, I decided it was enough and packed up my things. But as I was leaving I walked by a young tree on the corner and was quickly tempted into taking just a few more pics.

Aaron, I like this shot also. The airplane trail (I'm guessing that's what it is) and the angle of the Arc makes this a majestic view. The tree anchors your viewpoint also.

Definitely my favourite of your first 6h00am Sunday morning trip ;) worth waking up.

Does Aurélie wake up at 6am too?! I'd be proud too - the unique angle, color differentiation from green to blue to white and the composition of objects and clouds all make for a great shot.

I am undecided whether the jet trail adds or takes away from the shot. I will think it over. Great shot nonetheless.

Aaron, Did you use a bottle of Merlot and a park bench as props to take this angled shot?....Nice pic.

I don't know how I missed this one. How we will miss these scenes when you move to New Zealand (but you'll find something equally intriguing there, I'm sure).
In this one (OK, poet that I am) I see natural beauty (the tree) juxtaposed with the grandeur of human art (the Arc); the soft, random lines of the clouds juxtaposed with the straight, mechanical lines of the man-made "clouds," the simplicity of tree and cloud and the complexity of Arc and jet trail. Yep, intriguing. Thank you.
