I don't know the story behind this epic battle but it makes for a pretty picture. The fountain at St. Michel is a very common meeting area and the courtyard is always filled with people (making it actually kind of hard to find anyone you're looking for).

I remember this fountain well - right near the book shop and crazy greek street. You've captured nicely - the large format image adds to the grandeur.

Well... St Michel is an archangel who fought against the devil, represented by the dragon. Symbolises the downfall of "Satan" from Heaven to Hell... From my point of view, this is the nicest area in Paris, very central, near Notre Dame de Paris, l'Hôtel de Ville and not far from the Conciergerie and the Sainte Chapelle...
