I know the plants on the left of the picture, but those you find here are only 30 cm high.

The red is really catchy...I wonder what were you doing...its a little blur even at 1/100. It would have been much better without the shake.

Yeah, Shuva, it's because the focus is on the bush in front ... not on the bench and with F/5.6 everything in the background is a little blurry. I wish I had focused on the bench not the bush, but alas. :)

Kerstin, the plant on the back is the famous NZ fern (hope this is the right spelling) and it is the symbol of NZ. For instance, the All Blacks have a fern leaf as a symbol ... ferns and palm trees are definitely giving an exotic touch to NZ forests ;)

Focusing on the plant in front gives the eye the plant as the focal point not the red bench as you might expect.

I spent 4 months in the Bay of Plenty, so the mention brings back great memories. I hope that you have not been subjected to the smell of the paper mill intertwined with the sulfur from Mt Putuaki.

I like the focus as is. Focuses on the vegetation, not the human intervention. The red simply makes the greens more vibrant.
