A wood carving on the back of one of the canoes that the Maori rode across the Pacific. Being raised in Canada, I've always thought of a canoe as being relatively small ... but these vessels were massive, being able to carry over 20 people. In other news, today is my birthday! Well, kind of ... I'm 10,000 days old today and I'm pretty happy about that.

Happy 10,000th day! Quite an impressive canoe you found there. Is that really wood? Where did you find this?
You give us a new perspective on NZ every day. Thank you!

Happy birthday you old lad ! You are 1419 days less than me ! So few in fact...
The figurehead of the canoe is the total opposite of the old european's : we used to have a nice girl watching the horizon, while this one is a man lying on the back.

Happy Birthday, Aaron. Very impressive picture. The whole canoe must be massive.

Only 10,000 - my you are a young one!
The Maori have an amazing tradition - can't wait to visit and learn more about them! Nice capture on the carving - hard to get a sense of scale here.

10 000 days on earth, happy times, it would be impressive to see a break down of where all those days were spent by Country.
Cool picture, the detail is great.

This "little Woody" is holding his tummy like he ate something bad! Maybe too much wallabee...
