You will be happy to know that the guy teaching the bird class said his favorite lens next to his 500/4 is the 70-200 (he uses the 2.8IS but said the one you have f/4 is actually sharper than the 2.8 versions).
Anyway - the sharpness is evident in this beautiful shot - my only recommendation would be to have either cropped closer into the body or included the full tail instead of clipping it at the end ;-) - it works fairly well here because of the blurred background bird is positioned nicely to the edge.

Thanks for the details and suggestions Jason. The 70-200mm is an awesome lens ... the quality of color is definitely a step-up and I love the tight focus shots. :)
