Taking a little break from Sydney photos to show some pictures from our hike last weekend through Waitakere ranges. Our trip this time around was even more extreme than last time and involved climbing steep, rocky cliffs and sliding back down mud-soaked trails. At one point, the dry path we had been following went underwater and we were forced to take off our shoes and socks to continue our way. All in all, a very good walk.

Beautiful capture of shadows. This walk was a great one eventhough a hard one. These swamps were stuck between the rocks and the dunes and beyong the dunes was the sea ... just beautiful !

I like how the sandy dune leads down in to the marshy swamp area - must have been really nice to see the ocean peaking up at you as you walked along the trail.

And a marvelous photo. Are those your footprints on the sand dune?

The footprints on the dune are from other hikers on the trail.

I was watching this tourist TV commercial for the 1st time. The scenes were amazing. I said to Wendy based on your beautiful photos, this has to be New Zealand. Sure enough as the commercial ended the caption read ...100% Wonder - New Zealand.
