I was getting setup for the shot when this cute, little Japanese couple came walking through the frame and instead of waiting for them to pass, as is my habit, I thought they would do well to compliment the shot. The entire side of Rangitoto is covered in these beautiful volcanic rocks, making it quite alien to walk through. This Image was taken a few weeks back on our hike with Dave and Rina.

You're right, the couple gives the human touch to your shot. The volcanic rocks are so amazing!

We see the volcanic clouds in the sky and I noticed at first glance that the japaneese tourists where fleeing the eruption. You have been very brave to have taken the time to photograph them before evacuating !

This picture makes me thinking for a while. It has potential to win one of those photo awards, where I would not understand the judgement :-)

I agree with Shuva - it is strangely welcoming and the way you focus on the close rock with a slight blur to the rest of the image gives it a painting like quality. The couple definitely makes the shot I think and your location of them in the frame is perfect.

Very different view for you. The couple adds interest.
