This tribute to King Kong was built long before Peter Jackson announced his intention to create a remake, but I still find the resemblance uncanny. A small city on the east coast of New Zealand's North Island, Napier is known for its art deco architecture. This scene depicts Kong patiently waiting with his friends, the flying gulls, before launching his famous attack against the Church in retaliation for their widespread distribution of ignorance.

Strange architecture.

Ha - maybe this inspired Jackson. This must be a fun site to stumble upon.

Quite a scene and message.

Ooooooooooh Man! This is one hell of a scene. Great capture --- looks like a jail escapee --- look at the dress on his fingers.

Yet another distortion by the media :)
This was actually an interpretation of Golem from Lord of the Rings. Weta Workshop created a massive structure to sit atop The Embassy Theate in Wellington for the world premier of the first movie. The good folks from Napier did their interpretation :)
