An image of the Pohutu Geyser and the Prince of Wales' Feather Geyser erupting into the sky. On the right is Pohutu which erupts about once an hour and can reach a height of 30 meters (90 feet). Next to it on the left is the Prince of Wales' Feather Geyser named so because someone thought it looked like the feather in the Prince of Wales' hat when he came to visit Whakarewarewa in 1920. Whakarewarewa Thermal Park is located just south of downtown Rotorua.

Incredible sight. The amount of water discharged must be a tremendous amount. Loud sounds also I suppose.

Both of these geysers continued to erupt the entire we were in the park (2+ hours) so it was easy to get some good pictures. Soundwise, a general low rumble and the hissing of water.
