Prince of Wales Feather Geyser at Whakarewarewa

Posted by Aaron Schmidt (Auckland, New Zealand) on 26 February 2006 in Plants & Nature and Portfolio.

An image of the Pohutu Geyser and the Prince of Wales' Feather Geyser erupting into the sky. On the right is Pohutu which erupts about once an hour and can reach a height of 30 meters (90 feet). Next to it on the left is the Prince of Wales' Feather Geyser named so because someone thought it looked like the feather in the Prince of Wales' hat when he came to visit Whakarewarewa in 1920. Whakarewarewa Thermal Park is located just south of downtown Rotorua.
