The beautiful islands of the Poor Knights. When Captain James Cook sailed past in 1769 the Christmas trees were in bloom, making the islands resemble jam on toast, an English breakfast that was (at the time) known as "poor knights pudding". In 1981, the ocean surrounding the Poor Knights Islands became a marine reserve, protecting the wide variety of species living in this subtropical reef. Even Jacques Cousteau himself rated the Poor Knights as one of the top 10 dive sites in the world. Aurelie and I (together with Justin and Amelia) dove under the arch on the right, surrounded by 100s and 100s of fish, including the popular blue maomao.

It seems to be a very peaceful place ! The paradise for underwater fishing ! Well, it is forbidden, but you can hide some fishes in your swimsuit and pretend that they came here alone if you have been cought ? Can't you ? ;)

I didn't realize Cook explored New Zealand too I remember seeing his monument in Hawaii. When are you going to get an underwater camera and give us a glimpse of the world beneath the sea?!

Diving Poor Knights was a really amazing experience ... rays, fishes of all shapes and colours, eels everywhere. Valerie, the water was quite warm (in the 20's).
Those islands are actually the remaining of a collapsed volcano. I let you imagine the size :)
What the story does not tell is that on our way back, about 2 minutes from the diving site by boat, we saw a big shark ... hmm.
