Dolphin Schmidty

Posted by Aaron Schmidt (Auckland, New Zealand) on 9 March 2006 in Animal & Insect and Portfolio.

Well today is my birthday and I've always loved dolphins so I thought I would introduce you to my friend, Dolphin Schmidty. Genetically-speaking, Dolphin Schmidty is identical to me. We were bred from the same egg and we share the same genes. But as you can already guess, I went on to become a human and Dolphin Schmidty went on to become a dolphin.

28 years later, I'm up north at the Bay of Islands with my arms spread to the wind when I look down to see Dolphin Schmidty swimming underneath the water, smiling and laughing at me. I tried to tell him he was my brother, I screamed and yelled and begged him to stay ... but it was all in vain. Dolphin Schmidty sped off, did a few back-flips, and then disappeared into the ocean depths. This image is for you, my slippery brother.
