Gannet colony at Muriwai, New Zealand

Posted by Aaron Schmidt (Auckland, New Zealand) on 20 November 2006 in Animal & Insect and Portfolio.

Another shot from our trip to Muriwai beach on the weekend. Gannets love to nest on these cliffs, the strong wind and open ocean attracts many. A close-up, sunny version of the rock out cropping is also available.

Update: Thanks for all the comments. These gannets are nesting (some of them already had baby chicks) hence the reason they have very orderly areas of space.
