It's a Girl!

Aurélie and I are pleased to announce that Solen Isabella Schmidt is now a part of this world. After 55 hours in labour, 2 doctors, 1 midwife and lots of drugs, Aurélie delivered our little girl at 3:57am this morning (November 14th). Needless to say, Mom is a little tired but she's doing well.

Baby weighs 3.765 kg (8.3 pounds), measures 51 cm, and her face is a little bruised from her long expedition towards the light but she's very healthy and we think she looks adorable.

Mom and Dad are very, very proud.

Awesome! Congrats to Mom and Dad! (more to Mom). Aurélie you have the best look of exhaustion/relief/bliss on your face that I have ever seen. 55 hrs?? you are fully deserving of a medal. Too bad Solen and I won't share a birthday, I'm sure you were trying hard :)

@Andrew C: Initially, we weren't keen on November 13 but when Aurelie found out that your birthday was the 13th, she thought it would be lovely for Solen to share a birthday with the jolly Mr. Cowling. "He's been to Guatemala!", were her words. Alas, we missed it by a just few hours.

@Soodabeh: No, unfortunately I cannot speak or read or write Persian. I searched online for how to say "Thank you" in Farsi ... thought it would be nice.

Feel free to write simple phrases in Farsi on my blog if you want (just put the translation next to it). Cheers. =)
