Walking alone on Karekare beachPosted by Aaron Schmidt (Auckland, New Zealand) on 28 April 2008 in Landscape & Rural and Portfolio. In 1825, the Ngapuhi tribe came sweeping through this area from the north. The warriors from the local Te Kawerau a Maki tribe fought bravely, but they were no match for the muskets the Ngapuhi had obtained from the British. 2000 lost their lives. Some say spirits continue to haunt these beautiful beaches of Karekare but seeing Jordi walk in harmony with the wind and waves and sand ... all I felt was peace. This is my 1000th post on Aminus3. Jason achieved this goal a few months back and Shuva's soon to follow. I've been posting fairly consistently since June 1st, 2004, one month shy of 4 years.
